A recent electromagnetic flowmeter upgrade project in Malaysia has been successfully completed, with VNER helping the customer quickly resolve a long-standing flow measurement issue through responsive engineering support and systematic troubleshooting.

Shortly after commissioning, the customer reported a continuous empty pipe alarm accompanied by unstable flow readings in an effluent water application. VNER's engineering team immediately initiated a structured remote support process, providing technical documentation, installation guidance, annotated drawings, video assistance and live online communication to support the customer's maintenance team throughout the investigation.
Rather than relying on trial-and-error adjustments, VNER followed a systematic diagnostic procedure. The engineering team methodically verified the transmitter wiring, sensor wiring, terminal connections using a multi-meter, piping installation, upstream and downstream straight pipe lengths, flow direction, full pipe condition and medium conductivity. After each potential cause had been eliminated, the root cause was traced to electrode fouling and improper grounding, which introduced electrical interference affecting the empty pipe detection function. Once the recommended corrective actions were
implemented, the empty pipe alarm was completely eliminated, and the flow measurement returned to stable, accurate and reliable operation.
The customer highly appreciated VNER's rapid response, professional engineering expertise and efficient problem-solving process. The successful commissioning strengthened confidence in VNER's electromagnetic flow measurement solution and has already generated several follow-up electromagnetic flowmeter replacement projects across the same facility, further expanding the deployment of VNER solutions within the plant.
